art Used & Method for Pharmaceutical Preparations: The rhizomes are dug in winter. After the fibrous roots and bark have been removed, the rhizomes are soaked in water, cut into slices and dried in the sun.
Properties and Taste: Sweet or no taste and cold
Meridian: Kidney and urinary bladder
Functions: To transform dampness and promote water metabolism
Indications and Combinations: Dysuria, turbid urine, edema, diarrhea and profuse leukorrhea, or retention of phlegm and fluids, leading to dizziness, vertigo, palpitation and cough. Difficulty in urination, thirst, abdominal bloating, kidney stones, diabetic syndrome.
*Use with Poria (Fu ling), Umbellate pore-fungus (Zhu ling) and White atractylodes (Bai zhu) in the formula Wuling San.
Dosage: 5-10 g
Cautions: Long-term use of alismatis can irritate the intestines. Do not use with deficient Kidney Yang or damp cold with leakage of sperm or with leukorrhea.
